This model was originally done for a short film by a good friend of mine. I worked from a concept drawing that was given to me at the beginning of the project. I first started with modeling in Lightwave and then I moved the character over to Maya where I did everything else in the image. The character and environment were also sculpted in ZBrush.

Now that this is finished I can move on to other ideas I have... I think the next image will be a sci-fi environment.

Any comments are always welcomed.
Cheers!

A Peek Inside My Head

I wanted to make a self portrait to better my skills at modeling realistic heads. I got as far as sculpting in ZBrush just to put it off for a while. A year later I decided to finish it but I just wasn't completely happy with my UV unwrap so I started the sculpt over. Everything is done in Maya with the exception of the glasses and brain/brain canister which were modeled in LightWave Modeler and imported into Maya for final rendering. I used the fast skin shader in Mental Ray; that layer took almost 7 hrs to render at 2000 x 3000. Everything was rendered in layers and composited in Photoshop. The hair is Shave and a Haircut with the exception of the eyebrows which are painted.

Hope you'll like it and that it puts a smile on your face

Hello everyone.
This was my entry for the recent EON challenge. I wanted to show Patricia awe struck by the spectacular view of Thistledown. The image won 5th place in the Model category which was a total surprise for me.

I used mostly Maya for everything with the exception of Patricia which I modeled and UV unwrapped in LightWave Modeler. I then brough this model into Maya where I created a quick skeleton to be able to pose her, applied materials and rendered in several layers using Mental Ray. The final elements were composed in Photoshop.

the WIP thread is here if interested to see its development, there are closer images of the character as well.

Where We First Met

This is my entry for the Spectacular challenge.
My main focus was on the evocative aspect of the image and how powerful love really is.
This is the story that I wrote to go with the entry:
Impact is imminent. All the efforts to avoid catastrophy failed. During the chaos of a last minute evacuation David and Renee separated but destiny works in mysterious ways and by what some call coincidence, moments before the giant arrived they once again found each other at the same place where they first met.
They embraced one more time, every second feels like hours and not a word was spoken, none had to be said. now death is rapidly coming with a thunderous sound but that's allright now, they have each other and they leave with the greatest thing one can have... love.
hope you all like it as much as I do.
edit-made the car interiors darker.
The Jeep is stock which I had to fix quite a bit to make it useable for our purpose, the animation was over 30 seconds long, rendered at Hi-Def and had to be completed from start to finish in one week.
